Which plumbing contractor you hire can depend greatly on the job that is required. I have had my missteps with hiring plumbers in the past. A few times, I decided not to hire one at all. I had my cousin come over to my house and lay new PVC pipe, and while it worked, I was extremely nervous. I'm sure that Austin plumbers would have done a much better job.
Still, I didn't have to pay what the plumber would have charged me. Can you imagine if that had been a larger job what could have happened?
I should have been hiring a licensed plumber. Any contractor you hire to handle a plumbing job needs to not only be licensed but also certified and insured.
I remember the last time I needed a plumbing contractor, it was for my condo. I still hadn't learned my lesson.
I did get a referral from the owner's representative, but I didn't like his quote. I decided instead to hire my friend, and it actually cost me more than I thought it would. What was the end result? He installed new piping for my bathroom, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not it will last.
